The same trade wins the propelled Christopher Columbus to the new world are now once again playing with chance as the American-born, Paris based artist Max Hulhern launches Aqua Dice.
Max launched on 12/12/12 from The Canary Islands. A project that arose from his boyhood love for boats and his infatuation with luck and chance.
After securing funding from a variety of donors, including the French government, Mulhern commissioned a naval architect to design the dice, and a boat builder to construct them. The 8 ft square cubes are fashioned from wood and PVC, fitted with GPS systems, painted fluorescent orange and blue and are now making their way to their final destination… wherever that ends up being.
You can track the progress of the dice HERE, as well as make your own predictions on where these dice will wash ashore by visiting AquaDice.net. Currently the dice have traveled over 1,200 Miles and were last headed towards the Caribbean.
