WARHOL AND BASQUIAT FIGHT FOR STREET ART

By: Joseph Licata

The Brazilian artist Kobra just wrapped up his latest piece in New York City (Brooklyn to be precise), painting this mural on Bedford and N9. It features the iconic image of Andy Warhol and Michael Basquiat in boxing wears, originally photographed by Michael Halsband in 1985, with Kobra’s colorful kaleidoscopic technique. Titled “Fight For Street Art”, this piece certainly helps the argument for why we need it and why it’s art.
