JAMIE BRISICK & MIKE MOIR’S \\ THE EIGHTIES AT ECHO BEACH

Quiksilver - Partners & Spade - Echo Beach Book Party

QUIKSILVER / PARTNERS & SPADE CELEBRATES JAMIE BRISICK AND MIKE MOIR’S SURF RETROSPECTIVE
THE EIGHTIES AT ECHO BEACH WITH THE HOTTEST 100 YARDS BOOK LAUNCH PARTY AND PHOTO EXHIBIT!

Quiksilver will team up with Partners & Spade on June 1st in New York City to host a reception honoring The Eighties at Echo Beach, a new photographic surf chronology written by Jamie Brisick and photographed by Mike Moir, which documents one of surfing’s most unique and colorful subcultures. The Eighties at Echo Beach, which will be published by Chronicle Books this Fall, tells a tale of a significant era in Southern California surf culture and surf fashion through beautiful photography and humorous storytelling.

KELLY SLATER - ECHO BEACH BOOK

In the early eighties, a 100-yard stretch
in Newport Beach became a launch pad
for breakaway trends in the surf world.
Like punk rock, it was less about technical
chops than audacity. It challenged the
status quo and gave birth to the surfing
equivalent of the garage band.

THE HOTTEST 100 YARDS
In addition to the launch party, the Partners & Spade gallery will also unveil an ongoing The Hottest 100 Yards exhibit
relating to the Echo Beach Era that includes: photographs, paintings, film, vintage beachwear, 80s wax and fins, trophies, stickers and surfboards by Stussy, Schroff, Wave Tools, McCoy and Mark Richards.

ECHO BEACH - Partners & Spade

The Partners & Spade exhibition, located at 40 Great Jones Street in New York City, will be open to the public starting on
June 1, Saturdays 12-7 and Sundays 12-6, or by appointment.

Quiksilver is looking forward to a well-deserved celebration of Jamie, Mike and The Eighties At Echo Beach, which documents a fascinating time in surfing’s history, says Bob McKnight CEO and President of Quiksilver. This s also the first of many future collaborations with Partners & Spade, and we are very excited at the opportunities that lie ahead to bring more of the surf culture to New York.
