It is always a good thing when people come together to support a great cause and in this case, this is one that happens to be very special to Surf Collective for it involves cleaner and better oceans. With that said, we are very proud to support the Long Island Marine Purificiation Initiative, also known as LIMPIA, that seeks to inspire lasting change in the protection of local bodies of water and improve overall East End water quality.
Outdated infrastructure and a year-round population increase is leading to toxic conditions in many of the waters often frequented by residents and visitors. Therefore, longtime Montauk resident and avid surfer, Luke Weil, started LIMPIA to unite everyone from surfers to socialites and influencers in the art, fashion, music, media, environmental and philanthropic worlds to bring awareness to this issue to protect and preserve the ocean that we all know and love. Attendees include pro surfers Quincy Davis and Mikey DeTemple, model/designer Leilani Bishop, and photographer Andrew Blauschild, amongst others.
So, if you are out around Montauk this weekend, please join us for cocktails and conversations at Gurney’s in Montauk to benefit this very important clean water initiative on the East End.
