With a style that reflects both her true southern charm and that unmistakable New York City edge, Ellen knows how to flawlessly blend these two worlds into her everyday style – making her look unique, cool, and effortlessly chic. ELLEN MOORE | STYLE-LIST
Where did it all start?
Since I can remember, my personal style has played a big role in my overall confidence and ability to express myself. I’m not nearly as interested in brand names, trends, etc. as I am putting a cool look together that reflects my current state of mind.
What is your favorite city and neighborhood?
I love riding a beach cruiser through Charleston, SC more than anything in the world.
What is your favorite hotel?
These days I’m much more into Airbnb or One Fine Stay when I travel. It’s a better experience all around.
Your favorite restaurant and dish?
I eat a baguette with good, salty butter almost every day. Sometimes Comte makes it in there. Pain D’Avignon makes the best demi baguettes.
St Jerome’s in LES, when Lady Gaga went by Stefani and was just a go-go dancer in a bar.
Favorite vacation location?
Favorite surf spot / board?
I have a mini longboard by Strive. It’s perfect for my size and for most women in general.
Favorite duffel or suitcase?
A handwoven duffel by Manos Zapotecas.
Favorite jean brand?
Blk Dnm, though I’m loving this pair of Samantha Pleet wide leg jeans I just got.
Essential wardrobe item?
A statement flat.
Favorite time of year?
New York in the autumn and almost any beach in early summer.
Your style icon/s?
Personal style tip for others?
Dress your age. Also, try new things with your look. It can have an uplifting effect on your mood and confidence. Consider sending a pic to your best friend before leaving the house though…
The Tailoring Room in LES.
Marie Robinson Salon. I swear Allison’s scissors have magical powers.
Coffee or tea?
Coffee in the morning and chamomile tea before bed.
Favorite shoe maker?
Oh that’s too hard.
A 1990s Mercedes station wagon.
Favorite watch / watch brand?
Whichever one my boyfriend lets me borrow.
Essential gadget you can’t live without?
My iPhone for my camera and playlists.
Your favorite book?
It’s usually whatever I am reading at the time. Today it’s Inside the Dream Palace: The Life and Times of New York’s Legendary Chelsea Hotel by Sherill Tippins.
Favorite song or album?
Rescue by Mama Kin.
The Hope for Holt foundation started by my family.
I really love Julia Christe’s work. It’s the first thing I see when I walk into my apartment and it immediately calms me.
